Discover an expressive approach to textile screen printing by painting directly onto screen mesh with dyes. Explore colour blending, spontaneous mark-making and layering to create vibrant, one-of-a-kind monoprints on silk.
What you will learn
- An introduction to painterly monoprinting, with examples of finished prints to inspire your designs.
- How to use brushes and dyes to paint directly onto screen mesh.
- How to transfer your painted design onto silk using a squeegee.
- Ways to experiment with colour blending, stencils and layered prints for depth and texture.
- How to refine your designs by adding layers and reworking your prints.
The session ends with a group review, troubleshooting tips and guidance on continuing your practice at home.
Who is it for?
Beginners and those with some screen printing experience who would like to explore a more intuitive, painterly approach to printmaking.
Materials provided
- Screen printing frames
- Brushes and squeegees
- Fibre-reactive dyes
- Silk, plus paper and fabric for experimentation
We provide silk to print on. You are also welcome to bring your own.
Your finished prints
You will create your own collection of unique monoprints and develop a deeper understanding of this creative technique. Sophie will steam your fabric prints after the session to set the dyes. They will be ready for collection or dispatch the following week, rather than to take home on the day.

Cancellation and Refund Policy
1. Refunds:
- If you cancel at least seven days before the course begins, you will receive a full refund minus a 5% booking fee.
- Cancellations made within seven days of the course start date are non-refundable.
2. Course Transfers
- We may be able to transfer your booking to a future workshop upon request, although this is not guaranteed.
3. Course Cancellations:
- We reserve the right to cancel any course due to circumstances such as low enrollment
- In the event of a cancellation, we will make every effort to provide at least 7 days' notice.
- If we cancel a course, you will receive a full refund.
