The workshop lasts 2 and half hours and can be redeemed against any of our future beginner workshops dates.

Join Sophie Darling for a session of print and pattern. This beginner-friendly workshop will introduce you to the fundamental principles of screen printing, guiding you through the process of designing and printing your own creations using paper stencils.

Our goal by the end of the workshop is for you to print your own two colour designs using your own hand cut designs. Sophie will be walking you through the process via demo’s and we’ll be looking at a selection of samples from Sophie’s Archive. By the end of the session you can expect to have your own layered design screen printed onto fabric ready for framing.

What You Will Learn:

Introduction to Screen Printing:

  • Understand the basic principles of textile screen printing.
  • Learn about the materials and tools.

Design Inspiration:

  • Explore different design inspirations and techniques.
  • Discuss and conceptualize your own design ideas.

Creating Paper Stencils:

  • Learn to cut and make paper stencils for your designs.
  • Use Sophie’s blank screens to create your prints.

Printing Techniques:

  • Experiment with different pre-mixed inks and colors.
  • Learn layering techniques to add depth to your designs.

Hands-On Practice:

  • Apply your stencils and designs onto fabric.
  • Create your own unique layered design to take home.

Brilliant Print Workshop!

What a fab insight into the world.of Sophie Darling and print. Learnt so much and in a really beautiful and inspiring space. Sophie was great and walked us clearly through the process and what common mistakes to avoid to get a great result and walked away with some amazing printed t shirts and sweatshirts with loads of different techniques learnt too! Get so many compliments when I wear them as well! Loved it!

A Great Introduction to Screen Printing

Sophie ran a very interesting morning’s course on screen printing onto material. We cut out shapes and had the chance to print them onto a couple of pieces of fabric, even a tee shirt! Very enjoyable and a great taster for another session.
